Why Green Minds?
Green Minds is for anyone looking to improve their mental, emotional and physical wellbeing or those wishing to reconnect with nature. You can sign yourself up to Green Minds directly and we also take referrals through GPs, mental health practitioners, support workers or social prescribers.
The importance of such a group is invaluable and life changing – such a carefully thought through group and course
Green Minds runs a range of nature-based activities from regular drop-in gardening sessions at our weekly community garden group, more informal walk and talk sessions at beautiful locations in and around Brecon, to six-week nature connection group programmes including environmental art, mindfulness and movement in nature.
Tuesdays, all year round 10-12:30
We have more informal, drop-in weekly gardening sessions, located in Brecon Cathedral grounds. Come and do as little or as much gardening as you like. There’s also a big focus on tea drinking, cake and chatting!
Wednesdays March-October 14:00-16:00
Drop-in gentle gardening and chat at the Watton Mind allotment group.
For both the Tuesday & Wednesday casual groups booking is not required but it can be helpful to let volunteers know that you might be coming along.
Seasonal 6-week Nature connection programmes 10:00-13:00
Facilitated by Green Minds staff. These sessions are a more held space, with a closed group and the aim for participants to move through all 6 sessions together. The sessions consist of a range of nature connections activities e.g. gentle movement and mindfulness, sit spots in nature, nature journaling and nature-based crafts. The courses aim to create a balance between solo time in nature and togetherness.

Meet the team!
James Lott
Hi, I’m James. I’m passionate about helping people connect with nature and with each other. I enjoy creating relaxed, welcoming spaces where people can get outside, try something new, and just feel a bit better in themselves.
At Green Minds, I help organise and run nature-based activities that are open to everyone, no matter their background or experience. That might be a walk and talk session, a group project, or a chance to learn new skills outdoors.
Seren Williams
Seren grew up on an organic fruit and veg farm and has always had a deep appreciation for nature. She has a background in gardening, permaculture and arboriculture and has been teaching yoga, meditation and mindfulness for the past 10 years.
Combined with her experience in mental health, this has led her to ecotherapy work – supporting people with their wellbeing through deepening their connection with nature.
Ceri Hayes
Ceri has co-facilitated the Green Minds project since 2021, with a particular focus on delivery of our six-week nature, health and well-being programme.
She is qualified and accredited in applied ecopsychology and nature-based practice through the Natural Academy and brings both knowledge and passion to the team.
What to wear
For all Green Minds sessions, please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes and bring along a raincoat. There’s often tea/coffee and snacks during sessions so please let staff or volunteers know of any dietary requirements and allergies that you have. Please bring along any additional refreshments/medication that you may need. Please get in touch with staff to discuss any additional needs that you may have, or if there’s anything we can do to make a session more comfortable and accessible for you.
We are so grateful for the funding we have received, which has allowed the project to continue and grow, and for the support from Brecon Cathedral where we have established a beautiful community garden.
