Everyone deserves good mental health.

At South Powys Mind, we’re here to make sure nobody has to face life’s challenges alone.

We’re a small, independent mental health charity supporting people across South Powys. Whether someone is looking for counselling, wellbeing activities, practical support or simply a friendly place to connect, we’re here to help people improve their mental health and wellbeing in ways that work for them.

Our values

Past, Present & Future

South Powys Mind has supported local people for more than 30 years.

Beginning life as the Brecon Unemployment Self Help Association, we later became the South Powys Mind Contact Association before joining the Mind federation in 2013.

Today we’re based at our Community Wellbeing Centre in Brecon, providing welcoming, accessible spaces for counselling, activities, training and community support. Marie Davies, CEO, says;

We’re proud to be able to support communities across South Powys through a variety of services, led by dedicated and caring volunteers and staff members

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience good mental health, feel connected to their community and know where to turn when they need support.

We strive to listen to the needs of the people who use our services, to nurture a positive culture and to work towards delivering a wide range of support services.

Proud to be #YourLocalMind

Many people know the Mind logo, but don’t always realise how Local Minds work.

South Powys Mind is an independent local charity. We raise our own funding, employ our own staff and design services around the needs of people living here in South Powys.

At the same time, we’re proud to be part of the wider Mind network, giving us access to national campaigns, training, resources and expertise while remaining rooted in our local community.

We also work towards the Mind Quality Mark (MQM), which ensures high quality of our work and the organisation.
